After several weeks of having a weave, it’s time to let my real hair breath and take proper care of it. There’s not much I can do while the weave is installed other then wash it and dry it. After weeks of having a weave in, my hair gets really dry and tend to get matted when I take the weave out.
My go to deep conditioner to bring back the moisture back and to detangle is this DIY deep conditioning avocado hair mask.
1) Here’s What You’ll Need For Your Hair Mask:
- Avocados (amount depends on how long and thick your hair is)
- A banana
- Olive Oil
- An egg
- Honey ( I didn’t add any this time)
- A blender
You do not have to have everything on that list. If you are missing a few items , you can still have a bomb avocado hair mask. You just have to make sure you at least have the avocados. Duh! What’s an avocado hair mask without avocados?
As long as you have avocados and a blender and at least on of those ingredients listed above, then you are ready to go.
2) How to Make The Avocado Hair Mask
This is fairly easy. All you’re doing is putting everything together in the blender and blend them. I told you this was easy.
3) Your Avocado Hair Mask Should Look Something Like This
Make sure that everything is well blended and that there are no chunks left. You don’t want any chunks because once they get in your hair, it’s a pain to rinse them off. I tend to get chunks when the avocados are not that ripe. The more ripe the avocados are, the better.
By the way, this looks like guacamole. I had to keep reminding myself that this was a deep conditioning hair mask the whole time so I wouldn’t grab a bag of chips and have me a nice snack.
4) Looks Like You’re Ready To Go
Pour your avocado mask in a bowl, grab you a wide tooth comb and let’s get started.
5) Applying The Avocado Hair Mask
I usually part my hair in sections to make it easier and faster to apply the avocado hair mask throughout my hair.
6) Leave In for 30 Mins – 1 Hour
After applying, use a plastic shower cap to let the hair rest in. In my case, a plastic shower cap was nowhere to be found, so I used a plastic bag. Don’t judge me, it gets the job done too.
7) Rinse Out Hair Thoroughly
Make sure that your hair is rinse out properly and all of the hair mask is gone. I usually use my Tresemme Conditioner to comb through my hair and make sure that it’s detangled. After, I wrap it with a towel and let it air dry.
I always do this fast and easy avocado hair mask after I’ve had weave or braids in my hair for several weeks. It adds shine, moisturizes , and makes my hair really soft and easy to manage.
If you have a few avocados laying around and at least one of the ingredients listed above, you can create your own avocado hair mask at home.
